Movie posters from an alternate universe.  I’m just catching up on yesterday’s Golden Globes.  I thought these movie posters were fitting.  Artist Peter Stults re-designed modern movie posters as if they existed in past Hollywood eras.  See more here.

Children’s doodles painted realistically.  These paintings by Dave DeVries are part of The Monster Engine, an 11 year art project:
The process is simple. I project a child’s drawing with an opaque projector, faithfully tracing each line. Applying a combination of logic and instinct, I then paint the image as realistically as I can. My medium is mixed—primarily acrylic, airbrush, and colored pencil.
The results are cute, and a little scary at the same time. See more here, and buy the book here.

This is some serious talent right here.  What would Disney princesses look like as real people?  Jirka Väätäinen has created a photo-manipulation series to find out… and it’s amazing.  See more on his blog here.

In relation to my last post, while perusing Sean Edward Whelan’s portfolio, I saw the above painting.  It kind of reminds we of that movie Moon, and has a retro sci-fi feel.

The intricate drawings of Sean Edward.  The Fox is Black has an interesting feature on artist Sean Edward Whelan and his amazingly detailed pencil drawings.
Sean Edward Whelan is an artist and illustrator living in Japan. (I think he grew up in Australia.) Many of his pencil illustrations are part of a series wherein human figures are drawn as masses of jumbled architecture.

The Morran Book Project. Lovers of illustration and dogs alike, check out this book project by Camilla Engman (a contributor to Vancouver design blog Poppytalk). The book contains illustrations from all over the world featuring her beloved dog Morran, who recently passed away. Proceeds from the book go to WSPA - World Society for the Protection of Animals, Sweden.
I think this would be such an amazing gift for a dog lover. This will be the first Christmas without my dog, who passed away last summer. I get a little verklempt when dogs are involved!
Read more about the book project on Poppytalk here, and preview it, and perhaps buy a copy here.
